Wedding Photographer Chelsea Registry Office then The Lanesborough Hotel London.

May and Antonio are getting married on Saturday at The famous Chelsea Registry Office and afterwards will be having their reception at The Lanesborough Hotel. I met May and Antonio at the end of last year and we having been talking since then about the photographs they want and where they should be taken. All will be revealed on Tuesday next week when I make my post on ‘recent weddings’

A ‘pre wedding shoot’ is photographers speak for ‘a photography session before the wedding itself’. It’s a great opportunity to not only get some great relaxed photographs of you as a couple but also to get used to being photographed. You get to know me a little bit and get to understand what is possible from a photography point of view, and I get to know you a little and get an opportunity to understand what you’re looking for when your big day arrives. The session only takes about 1/2 an hour – about the same time as a first meeting at the studio would take.

Wedding Photographer Westminster Registry Office and The Hotel Russell London.

On Saturday I met Maxine at The Russell Hotel before we headed off with her Mum and bridesmaid to the Westminster Registry Office on Marylebone Road. Maxine’s dress was enormous, the biggest dress of the year so far, and she looked fabulous.

When we arrived at The Westminster Registry Office Matt, his family and all of the guests were already settled in the Purple Room. The ceremony was touching and it is clear the Maxine and Matt are a very together couple. Outside we gathered on the famous steps and Maxine’s young nieces threw confetti before we all headed off to the reception at The Hotel Russell on Russell Square, central London.

The three of us took a quick stroll around the garden square opposite the hotel and I took the photograph above just before we went back in to join their guests.

I left them just after the evening guests had arrived at about 8.30pm and the party was beginning to change up another gear. By then the balloon artist had made head dresses for most of the ladies and some very funny accessories for sum of the men.

Wedding Photographer Westminster Registry Office and The Russell Hotel London.

On Saturday I met Maxine at The Russell Hotel before we headed off with her Mum and bridesmaid to the Westminster Registry Office on Marylebone Road. Maxine’s dress was enormous, the biggest dress of the year so far, and she looked fabulous.

Wedding Photographers Ham Polo Club London.

I met up with Karen on Saturday afternoon surrounded by make up, with hairspray heavy in the air. Karen’s family who have come over from Zimbabwe during the week were also getting ready for the ceremony at 3pm.

Once I had finished at the house I headed off to St. Agatha’s Church in Kingston where I found Rob and his ushers in the pub across the road. Guests started arriving, and at about 2.55pm the bridesmaids arrived at the church. Karen arrived with her father at a little after 3pm and scurried in from the cold outside.

After the wedding ceremony outside we took a few formal photographs in the sun. The guests made their way off to the reception at The Ham Polo Club at Petersham while Karen, Rob and I went into Richmond Park to take some shots of them together. The photograph at the top of this post was taken at the top of Richmond Hill with the view of The Thames behind.

By the time the three of us got to The Ham Polo Club their guests were all settled at the reception. After a few more photos on the roof with their family and friends they all sat down for dinner. I left them all after the first dance and I’m very pleased with the way the day went. Rob and Karen are a fantastic couple and they were very relaxed during the day. They are off to Vietnam and Cambodia at the end of this week, and I’ll have their photographs ready for them to view before they go.

Wedding Photography IET, 2 Savoy Place, London.

On Saturday afternoon Heather and Jamie were married at The IET, 2 Savoy Place in London. The IET is one of London’s best kept secrets and has the most amazing views of the South Bank from the upstairs rooms. When I arrived Heather’s and Jamie’s families were there. Jamie’s parents live in Shanghai and have managed to combine their son’s London wedding with a holiday in Europe. Jamie’s mother had a bag full of camera gear most pros would envy.

The 90 or so guests all found their seats and Heather arrived with her father. The Westminster registrar made the short ceremony entertaining and special for Heather and Jamie. After the ceremony everyone moved downstairs for the drinks reception while the room upstairs was being prepared. The families and friends got along well and it was obvious that the two families were keen to take this opportunity to get to know one another better.

We took advantage of the balcony and the views as we weren’t able to stroll around outside as we had planned if the weather was good. The photograph above is one of many I took. You can see the Shell building and The London Eye in the background. The meal was served and I left them after the cutting of the cake and speeches.

The families have a hectic week ahead of them, they are off to Shanghai on Wednesday for the Chinese element of their wedding.

Wedding Photography Cannizaro House Hotel, Wimbledon, London.

I first met Nicole and Tony at Cannizaro House in Wimbledon last December for a pre wedding shoot and to talk through their plans for their wedding last Friday. It seems the last six months have flown by. I met up again with Nicole in one of the suites upstairs at about midday, she and the girls were having their hair and makeup done. Tony and his family and some of his friends were downstairs in the lobby and we dodged the heavy showers to take some shots outside before the rain started again. The boys were all up for some fun with the photographs outside and the shots are great.

The ceremony started at 2.30pm and I met up with Nicole, her father, and her three bridesmaids upstairs before coming down the staircase where we took a few more photographs before going into The Viscount Melville Room. The room was full of natural light which made my job much easier and when the ceremony was over we all moved into the room next to the terrace. When the weather cleared we all went outside and I took the group photographs in the sunken garden which was full of tulips in flower. Nicola and Tony were keen to keep the photography as natural as possible and I managed to take quite a number of shots similar to the one at the top of this post.

Everyone moved back into The Viscount Melville for the wedding breakfast, and the speeches later on were excellent. I stayed until just after the first dance. I thoroughly enjoyed my day with Nicole and Tony. They left for California for their honeymoon on Saturday.

Wedding Photographer Hampton Court House.

Laura and James are getting married on the 7th July this year at Hampton Court House. We met up on Sunday in Clapham for a pre wedding shoot and to talk about their wedding plans. Their ceremony will begin at 2pm and they plan to invite around 100 people. Laura will have six bridesmaids and James will have a best man and two ushers. James and Laura have booked me to photograph their wedding after seeing their photographs.

Wedding Photographer Chelsea Old Church London.

On Saturday afternoon I arrived at The Chelsea Old Church to photograph Laura and Charle’s wedding. Guests were beginning to arrive at 3.30pm for the ceremony at 4pm. Charles was meeting and greeting the 180 guests and at about 3.45pm the church was full to almost capacity waiting the arrival of Laura. I always say to brides who are nervous about the weather that umbrellas are great in the photographs, and so on cue the heavens opened as Laura pulled in with her father in a white jag.

David Reindorp who has been Canon at the church for many years never fails to amuse his congregation, and he had Laura and Charles’s family and friends in fits of laughter a number of times during the ceremony. I was able to take some good photographs during the ceremony and afterwards in the sunshine outside.

The drinks reception was held at the back of the church in The Petyt Hall. The speeches were excellent and everyone had a great time. Laura and Charles made their exit at about 8.00pm in the white jag waiting on Cheyne Walk.

Wedding Photographer Spread Eagle Hotel, Midhurst, West Sussex.

On Friday I drove through the hail, sleet, brilliant sunshine, and rain to The Spread Eagle Hotel in Midhurst to meet Tiina and Tim with their family and friends. I first met Tiina and Tim and their little girl Lexie in November last year for a pre-wedding photoshoot in London, and they have since moved to Sussex.

The Spread Eagle Hotel and Spa in Midhurst is a terrific wedding location, I’ve been there a number of times over the years and it’s within easy reach for guests coming from London. The registrars were interviewing Tiina when I arrived so I took a number of good shots of Tim and his best man and their friends waiting in the Polo Room upstairs in the hotel. Tiina and her father walked through the conservatory on their way upstairs much to the delight of the guests sitting having lunch. Their daughter Lexie spent the ceremony across the road at their cottage with the babysitter, and made her entrance later at the reception. The Polo room is ideal for photography, it has a low white ceiling and lots of natural light despite the stormy weather outside.

They held their reception downstairs in the Jacobean Hall where drinks were served and the their guests were able to go outside into the garden when the weather allowed. Lexie made her entrance and we took some group photographs inside and out. I left them at about 3.30pm as they sat down to dinner.

This was a very intimate wedding and their friends and family all seemed get along very well together, and I really enjoyed my time with them.

Wedding photographer Midhurst, West Sussex Home.

Wedding Photographer Bingham Hotel Richmond, London.

On Saturday at midday I met up with Leela, Kevin, their little boy Thomas, and their parents and siblings for an intimate ceremony at The Bingham Hotel overlooking the Thames in Richmond, South West London. The Sun was pouring into the room and the photograph above was taken just as Keven said ‘I do”. The weather all week had been very unsettled and on Saturday we were able to use the terrace overlooking the river and go down the the garden and take pictures on the towpath next to the water.

After the ceromony and our time in the gardens I left to go back to the studio to produce a slideshow of finished photographs to be shown at the party for their friends and family in the evening. Luckily that afternoon the Grand National Horserace was on and the roads were more or less deserted. This allowed me to get back to my studio in Battersea, process the images, and drive back to Richmond in time for the evening event. The photographs looked great on the big screens in the room.

Leela and Keven are spending a few days on their own while the grandparents share looking after little Thomas.
